Athletics

Participation in team and individual sports not only promotes a feeling of family and belonging, but it allows students to develop themselves physically and emotionally. Students gain strength and skills, as well as having the opportunity to develop leadership skills. They learn the art of good sportsmanship and fair play.

Seventh and eighth-grade students at Powell Middle School may participate in:

  • Track

  • Football

  • Volleyball

  • Soccer

  • Cheerleading

  • Basketball

  • Wrestling

  • Swimming

  • Club Tennis

  • Cross Country

Students in grades seventh and eighth who play fall sports must have a physical examination prior to the first day of practice. You may pick up necessary paperwork from the middle school office or find it on our school website under the Athletics tab. Students must have their paperwork completed (including their physical dated May 1, 2024, or later) prior to their first practice. We do not allow students who do not have this paperwork to practice or play in games.

Additionally, seventh and eighth grade home school students who intend to participate in middle school athletics must complete the 2024-2025 WHSAA Affiliate Home School Member form. You must mail this form to WHSAA along with a check for $7.00 to cover your student’s catastrophic insurance fee. WHSAA must receive this form and payment before your student can participate in middle school athletics. You can pick up the form at the Powell Middle School office or access the home school membership form online.
