Opportunity Room (O.R.)
Classwork and homework are the predominant ways teachers track student learning. But did you know that not finishing assigned work is the biggest obstacle to academic success? We want to support students’ development and promote their growing sense of responsibility by teaching good study habits, reinforcing the value of hard work, and fostering good communication between home and school. With this in mind, our Opportunity Room (O.R.) program was born.
Opportunity Room (O.R.) is a tiered, academic intervention program that helps students find success in the classroom. We immediately place students who do not finish their work (or do not turn it in) within our Opportunity Room (O.R.) program and give them the support they need.
Technology
Technology is an integral part of our daily life, but it also plays an important role in education. We expect our students to interact with technology both in and out of the classroom by exploring new software packages, researching current events, and completing school assignments. However, we know that not every student has access to personal learning devices in their homes, so the district has initiated a 1-to-1 technology program to provide every student at PMS with a Chromebook.
