Welcome to Westside Elementary, the home of the Bears, where we are guided by our mission of “Inspiring curiosity and growing the knowledge of all learners.”  Our school serves 300+ students with a focus on fostering the very highest of academic achievement within a positive, supportive, and responsive learning environment. Every child walking through our doors is cared for, accepted and valued for their unique strengths. Kindness abounds and our students know that their perseverance results in their growth and success.

1. As a professional learning community, Westside Elementary will collaboratively engage in continuous improvement in order to exceed expectations in achievement, growth and equity.

2. Study and implement high quality, comprehensive and responsive literacy practices so that 90% of students are within the expected instructional reading range.

3. Through systematic application of PLC practices, we will increase math achievement of our students.

4. Implement a multi-tiered system of supports to address social behavioral issues that impact academic performance as measured by a 10% reduction in disciplinary referrals.

The Eight Keys of Excellence guide Westside students to live a life of confidence, motivation, leadership and valuable life principles. The Eight Keys are used schoolwide in conjunction with the expectations of kindness, respect, responsibility, and perseverance. Together, they support students in attaining personal excellence, which paves the way to academic excellence.

The Eight Keys of Excellence are part of the daily classroom experience and are applied, discussed and reviewed by teachers and students throughout the learning day. Each month, Westside Elementary focuses on one Key.
