Our School
We care about each student and are dedicated to providing an education that prepares our students for life. Our highly qualified teachers work with students in a small class setting that allows them to personalize their teaching strategies. We also offer a full range of support services and programs that enhance student learning.
Professional Learning Community
Powell High School is a professional learning community dedicated not only to developing lifelong learners, but also to becoming lifelong learners. Our teachers meet regularly to share expertise, improve their teaching skills, and discuss ways to maximize student engagement and learning. We encourage:
Extracurricular Participation
Not all learning happens in the classroom. At Powell, extracurricular activities provide the catalyst for engagement and morale, and give students avenues to develop their skills and find success outside the classroom. We are proud to say that nearly 90% of the student body at PHS participates in extracurricular activities!
Shared Expectations
Teachers post student learning targets for every lesson in their classrooms. These targets give students clear expectations for their day and help our teachers stay focused.
Leadership
Our Panther Strong Ambassador program gives high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to develop leadership skills by mentoring underclassmen to help them acclimate to high school life. Selected students may also become peer tutors during lunch and/or after school.
Our Programs
Hathaway Scholarship Program
All Wyoming public school students are eligible for post-secondary scholarships via the Hathaway Scholarship Program. By maintaining good grades and meeting certain coursework requirements, students can boost their award and graduate with a renewable scholarship to cover tuition costs at an in-state college or university.
Career Technical Education
CTE offers students career-related coursework in agriculture, building trades and welding, business, computer science, culinary arts, engineering and design, family and consumer sciences, marketing, and more!
College Prep
We offer a variety of dual-credit and/or advanced placement coursework to help students meet college entrance requirements and potentially save money by completing college classes while still in high school. Dual-credit offerings are possible through our partnership with Northwest College.
